In 2003, an excellent history of the 27th Bombardment Group (Light) during World War II was privately published. Included in its 212 pages were, among other things, nineteen chapters, eleven maps, nine pages of photographs, twenty four figures, an extensive bibliography and sources section and a full index. It was well researched and documented, with source notes for every item of information. The primary emphasis is on the Army Air Corps officers and enlisted men of the 27th's participation, as artillerymen and infantrymen, in the Battle of Bataan. Much of the information in the book came from the author's extensive interviews of surviving members of the 27th and the book includes rosters of the officers and enlisted men in the 27th Bomb Group, including the 16th Bomb Squadron, the 17th Bomb Squadron, the 91st Bomb Squadrons, the 48th Materiel Squadron, the 454th Ordnance Squadron, and the 2nd Observation Squadron.
